Temptations - The Signpost
What do you do if you haven't smoked for 3 days and all of a sudden you are tempted? If you are trying to lose weight and you start having desires to eat? If you want an 'A' on your math exam but can't seem to focus enough to study. Life is full of temptations. For the next few blog entries I will be presenting ways to avoid those temptations.
BASIC THEORY
Your inner mind is full of ++++ and -----. The temptations come from the negatives. They will be on the look out for ways to tempt you. The overall strategy is to add positives and remove negatives so the temptations will go away at the source. The emphasis will be on removing negatives.
THE SIGNPOST
Become more aware of your goal. See yourself going down the path of your life. Up ahead you see a signpost with 2 paths. To the left failure. To the right success. Now look down the path to the left and see your future if you do not reach your goal. Now look down the path to the right and see your future after achieving your goal.
Quit Smoking: To the left see your future if you continue to smoke. To the right see your future as a nonsmoker.
Weight Loss: To the left see your future staying overweight. To the right see your future at your goal weight.
AVOIDING TEMPTATION WITH THE SIGNPOST
1. use peace self hypnosis to relax and take your awareness away from your head
my shoulders, arms and hands are at peace
my chest and stomach are at peace
my back is at peace
2. Now see feel yourself on your path of life.
3. See the Signpost
4. Look down both paths.
5. Choose which path you want to go down.
6. use strong self hypnosis
my shoulders, arms and hands are strong
my chest and stomach are strong
my back is strong
You can shorten this by leaving out the self hypnosis.
PROGRAM
Take a few moments to practice ahead of time. Build up the path of your life. Let it become clearer. See the paths to the left and the right. Now practice being tempted. When you are remember to use this.
